Wrap Testing Method

Insertion Loss Stability and Phase Stability Testing with Wrap and Bend Testing

Coil 360 degree testing

1.       The VNA is calibrated using 2.92 mm standard connector.

2.       The cable assembly is connected to the VNA.

3.       The S21 parameter is stored in memory for the upcoming test condition.

4.       The cable assembly is disconnected, coiled 360 degree, and re-connect to the VNA.

5.       The change in the insertion loss (S21) and phase (S12) is recorded. This is done using the data divide by memory function.

6.       The cable is then return to its normal and relaxed position, once again S21 is stored in memory for the upcoming test condition. See video 1.

Negative Coil 360 degree testing

7.       The cable assembly is disconnected, negative coiled 360 degree, and re-connect to the VNA.

8.       The change in the insertion loss (S21) and phase (S12) is recorded. This is done using the data divide by memory function.

9.       The cable is then return to its normal and relaxed position, once again S21 is stored in memory for the upcoming test condition. See video 1.

180 degree bend testing

10.   The cable assembly is fixed at the end by hand, and wrapped round to bring to a 180 degree bend with respect to the initial plan of the cable assembly.

11.   The change in the insertion loss (S21) and phase (S12) is recorded. This is done using the data divide by memory function.

12.   The cable is then return to its normal and relaxed position, once again S21 is stored in memory for the upcoming test condition. See video 2.

Negative 180 degree bend testing

13.   The cable assembly is fixed at the end by hand, and wrapped round to bring to a negative 180 degree bend with respect to the initial plan of the cable assembly.

14.   The change in the insertion loss (S21) and phase (S12) is recorded. This is done using the data divide by memory function.

15.   The cable is then return to its normal and relaxed position, once again S21 is stored in memory for the upcoming test condition. See video 2.
